On the occasion of Mutabor’s 20th birthday, the team has compiled a book about its genesis, telling the story about how the internationally recognized design agency Mutabor was born and where everything began—the room C20 at Muthesius Art School in Kiel. This is where the Mutabor magazine was first delivered and where 10 creative people met 20 years ago.
In celebration of the release of C20, Mutabor and Gestalten proudly invite you to the next evening talk at Gestalten Space on October 17, 18:00. Mutabor's founders Heinrich Paravicini and Johannes Plass, together with the student designers Kiel Sophia Ewig and Christin Pukallus will speak about the making and the concepts behind the book. This will then be followed by presentations of the designer/audiovisual artist Christoph Petersen, Moccu agency's Jens Schmidt, photographer/filmmaker Pepe Lange, as well as Muthesius Art School's professor Silke Juchter.
The book C20 revisits the place and moment, celebrating the people behind Mutabor's success. It’s divided into two parts: The first part is about room C20: how the room looked like, who worked there, and how the Mutabor magazine—that was also distributed by Gestalten back in the days—was created. The second part introduces the ten creatives who met in this room and their own life journey. To bring the book into being, they collaborated with the Muthesius Art School in Kiel and asked two ambitious communication design students Sophia Ewig and Christin Pukallus to design the book.
Recently, Mutabor’s third publication in the Lingua book series, Lingua Digitalis, is slated to take home the prestigious "Best of the Best" Red Dot Design Award of 2013 for Communication Design! Robert Klanten will also be sharing a few words with audiences at the award ceremony on October 18. This book is one of the most favorable practical reference tools about developing effective logos and icons for our digital age after the all-time bestselling Lingua Grafica and Lingua Universalis, published by Gestalten.
