World famous ad man Erik Kessels, of the Dutch advertising agency KesselsKramer, is all about daring his clients to be bold and successfully does so with such finesse by standing for the propagation of good ideas, of imagination over traditional limitations. Kessels is re-inventing the scope of storytelling. He believes we live in a new age, where a brand can tell its tale not only through traditional media, but also in whatever form most suits its message. An idea can pop up in the form of a book, a film, an advertising campaign, an exhibition or a product.

In this two-day Gestalten Workshop, Kessels will introduce his methods of facilitating errors to produce unusual yet powerful visuals imbued with messages that create awareness through radical ideas, and capture, provoke, and engage with the audience. You will learn how mistakes can change previous perceptions and open up new ways of looking at things, thus making the mistake is something to strive for.

Kessels will break down any preconceived notions about making errors and push participants to purposely make errors to open up their minds to approach the storytelling process in new ways. In a nutshell, he will give you the freedom to make mistakes and teach you how to turn the dreaded F word, "failure", into a positive strategical opportunity for communication.

Starting with a lecture and presentation by Kessels on the topic of “Forced Errors”, participants will then be briefed on how to apply this approach to their work to initiate new and unusual ideas, and translate them into striking visual stories that efficiently communicate a message, product, brand or social cause that leaves a bold impression—and all by making mistakes.

This workshop is for creatives that are willing to cross over. We promise you’ll walk away with a bigger toolbox and skill set for telling visual stories!

Please bring your laptop with graphics software installed, and most importantly, your brain! If you already have a project idea, bring it along.
