Before we draw close to the end of our “Easy as Pie” exhibition, Gestalten invites you to an evening with Jan Kage and KLUB7. We'll open up with writer, musician, and radio host Jan Kage, aka Yaneq, reading passages from his new book Yaneqdoten, a collection of texts originally written for his legendary “Party Arty—a night of vibes from different tribes” spoken word performances that combine contemporary art with DJs and live acts and illustrated by KLUB7. Host to the radio show “Radio Arty” on 100.6 FluxFM, Kage also runs Shau Fenster, a contemporary art space in Kreuzberg.
The book reading will be followed by the premiere screening of “NEW YORK 2012—KLUB7 is Up to Something”. The short film documents KLUB7’s three-week stint in New York City where they used the city as their canvas, leaving traces of their intricate trademark chalk installations on sidewalks and large-scale murals in public spaces. The film presents the six member artist's journey in the big apple and through the streets of Brooklyn, drawing upon their common vocabulary of hand-painted symbols, characters, and lettering.
