The Flying Black House that Looms Beneath a Bridge

H3T Architekti Foster People's Imaginations with a Hidden Cabin in the Czech Republic
Posted by Gestalten—04/2017

At an abandoned military complex, beneath the arch of an old railway bridge, H3T Architekti built the "Flying Black House." It's located in the middle of densely packed woodland, in a mysterious, almost creepy atmosphere. The small dwelling features a pitched gable roof and small rectangular windows that look out to the surrounding woodland landscape. It's suspended by steel cables, appearing to be floating weightlessly in midair. A ladder is hidden nearby, inviting passersby to climb up and see what lies inside. At just four square meters, the small cabin includes a living room with a stove and a small sleeping loft. The installation is supposed to encourage people's imaginations and to help them overcome fear and doubt.
