Enoteca dai Tosi

Underground Winery in Southern Italy
Posted by Gestalten—08/2017

In Matera, Italy, a stone stairwell leads down into a cellar unlike any others. Enoteca dai Tosi has been tempting visitors into the three-story descent into a refurbished cave with wine galore. Designed by the team of Belgian studio architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, the winery is lined with fresh terracotta tiling and emerald green accents that compliment the existing rock structure and highlight the cave’s history. Just as visitors unpack the flavors of their drink, they can unpack the centuries woven into their stone surroundings.

Explore the worlds that architects across the globe are planning, designing, and building in our selection of books about architecture.
