The Artist from Los Angeles Makes Miniature Tree Houses atop Houseplants

Somewhere Small by Jedediah Voltz

architecture & interior visual culture

Tree houses are a quinetessential symbol of childhood and the freedom it offers: how many of us spent hours dreaming of a home of our own where our imaginations could run wild? Artist Jedediah Voltz draws inspiration from the playful whimsy of backyard architecture for his project Somewhere Small. Using houseplants and succulents as a plot of land, Voltz crafts towering tree houses with detailed furnishings—all made by hand. The miniature sets are an imaginative exploration of childhood fantasy made with the steady hand of a professional. Somewhere Small will be on display at Virgil Normal in LA starting April 25.
