A Creative Pool project by 32nd&urban: gallery/space

act natural April 11 – May 3, 2008 Opening Reception: April 11th, 7pm-11pm 32nd&urban: gallery/space 3201 South Halsted Street Chicago, IL 60608 The exhibition ACT NATURAL brings together artists and designers to meditate on the capacity for our interior surroundings to ‘bring us closer to nature’. It poses the question of how our inanimate objects offer insight into the nature of things, or remind us of our commonality. The exhibition also challenges us to consider how our domestic spaces reflect the greater environment; in form, material or function. During a time when the design world uses two distinct approaches in looking to nature as a reference—trendy appropriation versus mathematical and scientific study of natural form—ACT NATURAL seeks to stimulate thoughtfulness and intimacy regarding our personal spaces with lighthearted humor and attention to craft. By uniting the work of these artists and designers, a ‘landscape’ will be created in the gallery meant to invoke a sense of respect and wonder and remind us of our connectedness. Some artists include: Mike Genovese, Phoebe Fisher, Bridgette Buckley, etc.
