MAN AND BEAST

An exhibition of new work by Nick Morley Nick Morley is an artist and illustrator with an eye for the absurd. His idiosyncratic and wryly humourous take on the human condition has won many fans across the globe including comedian Vic Reeves. The major themes running through Nick’s work are masculinity, heroism and human achievement. For this exhibition at Material Nick has produced new etchings, linocuts, drawings and paintings around the theme ‘Man and Beast’. The images are at once funny and unsettling; a man riding a zebra, hunters holding up their dead trophies, a giant snake and a bear riding a bicycle. To accompany the exhibition Nick has produced a limited edition, four colour screenprinted book entitled ‘Man and Beast’ featuring eight new drawings. Nick has exhibited widely across the UK and abroad. Past subjects of his work include amateur astronauts, wrestlers and the World Beard and Moustache Championships. As an illustrator Nick has been commissioned to design book covers for Penguin and Faber & Faber and has been published twice in Le Gun magazine. He is a member of East London Printmakers and lives and works in London.
