Blackboard entry by Dimitar Inchev

A Creative Pool project by Dimitar Inchev (Germany)

Clean and minimal sneaker/shoe design with unique hand made wooden packaging.

In coming up with the wooden "Canvas Box" packaging we wanted to stick to some principles:

- Classical materials, craftsmanship, exposure of the logo and customer curiosity.

As cardboard is a common material for shoe boxes it was too obvious choice for this project so we chose birch plywood. This is a classical material, very popular in last century furniture design. We decided to get that romantic look back at plywood and use it in non-traditional way for a traditional product, the shoe box.

Intentionally the box was created with no lid. The idea is when the customer receives the package to have few second to play with it figuring out how to open the box.

The logo cut on the top shows the product inside, symbolizing that this is not just a logo, but there is a product behind it , which outlines the logo from inside the box.

Also another add-on to the plywood box is that it can be kept as furniture and used in many ways, not trashed out as most of the packages we use in our everyday activities.

This is collaborative project incorporating the work of identity designer Pavel Pavlov, illustrator Dimo Trifonov and the architecture studio Archabits.
