Design for scientific publications, research projects, scientific journals, etc, has been largely neglected. I am Biologist with interest on typography and graphic design. I designed logos for research projects and for identity of a research groups. Some example of this interest is the logo of Biotool research project consortium. Hope you like it, and I hope that more scientist will take care and will use to communicative power of visual objects in the next future.
