BRR 2018: Quando A Periferia Se Torna Trendy

A Creative Pool project by José Mendes (Portugal)

The book traces a picture of the socio-cultural life in the city of Barreiro, Portugal. A co-creation among academics, journalists, local agents, photographers, designers, and artists. The graphic backbone was achieved by the design of a typeface called “Ferramenta de Coisas”, based on my memory of shapes from the old industrial city landscape. The typeface name and modular character to build “things” reinforce the DYI drive of the city’s cultural movements.
