The Boerum Hill Studio Takes Full Advantage of the Cozy Backyard

Brooklyn Garden House by Nick Hunt

architecture & interior

It can be hard to find a peaceful place in the sprawl of New York. Some people find a cozy cafe around the corner to which they can retreat; others simply hole up at home with a good book. Architect Nick Hunt, however, took a different route. After successfully letting a studio apartment in Boerum Hill in Brooklyn, Hunt took full advantage of his backyard to create a garden house for rest and relaxation. Using salvaged wood, he built a monolithic get-away all by himself: to Hunt, the act of working alone proved to be just as relaxing as hiding out in personal oasis away from the Manhattan hustle.

In a world where the population is constantly growing, architects are finding new and innovative architectural solutions. Discover more in our architecture books.
