Cabin on a Rock
The White Mountains cover around a fourth of the state of New Hampshire with sprawling forests, crisp riverbanks, and mountain ranges overlooking the full palette of autumnal colors for which New England is known. It’s on one of ledges that I-Kanda Architects perched a 900-square-foot cabin on a granite shelf. The structure is anchored to a grid of nine concrete pillars that account for the uneven slopes of the outcropping. Using pre-fabricated frames for easy construction, the finished hideaway juxtaposes breathtaking views with an irregular, future-forward geometric series of walls and ceilings.
