Dots and Lines with Chaim Machlev
For tattoo artist Chaim Machlev of DotsToLines, there's a peace in the abstract geometries: His ink curves and bends like Arabian calligraphy or complex fractals, breathing and sighing into the body’s natural musculature. There's a delicate balance as the lines stretch and ebb across the skin, and each design is customized, tailored to the tattooed after a number of consultations. Machlev’s pieces are large, spanning the full width of shoulder blades or scrawled across a side from neckline to hip bone. See more of his work in our new book Forever More, which travels far and wide to present a survey of the past, present, and future of tattoos.
