Illustrator Martina Paukova’s drawings might be two dimensional, but her ideas certainly aren’t. For her show “Girls” at The Book Club in Shoreditch, she took a critical approach to the many roles of contemporary girls: whereas expectations fill their schedules and minds with a constant array of tasks, Paukova depicts her subjects celebrating their downtime, relaxing in off-duty domestic bliss. Her illustrations, which have been championed by clients including Converse, the Guardian, and the New York Times, bring a lifelike joy to the peaceful place settings, with a lightness holding the every-day dalliances in celebration.

From now through February 8, catch “Girls” by Martina Paukova at The Book Club in Shoreditch, or browse the work of other young creatives around the world in the Gestalten Creative Pool.
