Paper Torch

Flashlight Made from a Single Sheet of Paper
Posted by Gestalten—09/2017

Nendo’s paper torch is a feat of engineering magic. The flashlight comes as a flatpack—nearly as flat as one could be. Indeed, the lamp is made from a single sheet of paper rolled up to diffuse the luminance. The paper is conductive itself, allowing the charge to flow from the battery cells to the LED bulb. The amount of light produced is also reactive, and wanes with the tightness of the roll.

It’s no surprise coming from Nendo: the Japanese design studio has been breaking ground since it was founded in 2002. Read more in our book Nendo: 10/10.
