Tusen Ramundberget by Murman Arkitekter

The Swedish Restaurant Is Lined with a Facade of Natural Birch Trunks

Straddling the border between the treeline and the mountains of the Ramundberget Ski Resort in Sweden, Tusen Ramundberget is an oasis built in harmony with the natural landscapes. The restaurant, which was designed by Murman Arkitekter, features an external facade lined with dozens of tree trunks. Native to the area, the untreated birch bark lends a connection to the land while also protecting the interior from the harsh mountain winds. The wide spacing of the birch trees also allows the low-hanging sun of the late-winter ski season to stream through the gaps and illuminate the minimal interior as visitors look out at the stunning, uninterrupted view.
