There’s a beauty in bare walls, stripped of colorful wallpapers and fancy paint jobs. Indeed, the rough, hardened exteriors of exposed brick, chipped cement, and open-air wooden support systems of this renovated home in Mallorca lend a distinct character to its interior. They remind us of past iterations while bringing the building forward toward the future: The renovation, which was led by architect Carles Oliver, largely took place to enhance the building’s efficiency in terms of energy use.
